Hughie Jennings was one of the most colorful figures of early baseball. As a player, he starred at shortstop for the Baltimore Orioles during their championship years, and as manager of the Detroit Tigers he guided the club to three consecutive American League pennants from 1907 through 1909 alongside stars such as Ty Cobb and Sam Crawford.
